Paul has over 30 years of maritime experience, underpinned by a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree and marine engineering qualifications. His career began at age 16 at a Merchant Navy college, followed by an engineering cadetship in the offshore sector and then moved to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary in 1996 where he gained valuable experience on a variety of vessels.
Paul joined the Isle of Man Ship Registry in 2003 as a Marine Surveyor and in 2011 he stepped into the role of Technical Policy officer where he worked closely with the legislation team and the Red Ensign Group to ensure full compliance with the International Maritime Organization’s flag State requirements. Promoted to Principal Surveyor in 2021, Paul briefly served as Interim Director of Harbours on a 9-month secondment before returning to his current role, where he continues to support the Registry with his extensive experience and commitment to maritime excellence.
Paul enjoys using his wealth of technical expertise and maritime experience to every project and specializes in helping clients navigate complex technical issues to deliver clear, effective solutions.
Outside of work, Paul enjoys family holidays and serves on the committee of King Edward Bay Golf Club and is the Secretary of TS Manxman, the Isle of Man’s Sea Cadet unit.
