The Isle of Man Ship Registry is proud to support the IMO ‘International Day for Women in Maritime’ which is observed on 18 May every year. The day celebrates women in the industry and is intended to promote the recruitment, retention and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector, raise the profile of women in maritime, strengthen IMO's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime.
IOMSR director Cameron Mitchell said:
“The registry fully supports women in maritime careers at sea and on shore. We are lucky to have a number of very talented women working for the registry helping to lead and shape our operations. In addition, we want to encourage more women to join our engineering and surveying teams working on ships in a safe environment. We further fully support the work of our partners like Isle of Man Maritime and Mersey Maritime in their work promoting maritime careers to women.”
