The 'Commercial Yacht' survey scheme is designed for yachts which spend the majority of their time operating under a commercial Certificate of Registry. Accordingly they will pay the Commercial Yacht Annual and Registry Fees, and Commercial Survey Fees under the CYFS. Nonetheless, there is scope for a commercial yacht to spend short periods of time on a Pleasure Certificate of Registry. To enable the vessel to change registration via an expedited procedure, it is necessary for the vessel to maintain full commercial compliance at all times, including when operating on a pleasure certificate of registry.
Below are the key features of this survey scheme:
- Yacht must be 24m or over and built to the Large Yacht Code/REG Yacht Code Part A
- Requires full compliance with all commercial regulations at all times
- Permits up to 12 paying passengers when operating under a commercial CoR
- Yacht must be predominantly commercial but may switch to pleasure CoR for short
periods
