The Isle of Man Ship Registry has recently released Technical Advisory Notice number 005-18 to provide clients with an update regarding amendments to MARPOL.
MARPOL Annex VI has been amended to include a new Regulation 22A regarding the collection and reporting of ship fuel oil consumption data. This new Regulation recently entered into force and will require ship’s operators to record and report their fuel oil consumption. This forms the first part of IMO’s three step approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Once the data collection is complete, IMO will undertake an analysis of the data, followed by measures to reduce emissions.
