Ship Registry Supports World Maritime Day 2022

The Isle of Man Ship Registry is supporting the International Maritime Organisation’s World Maritime Day today.

This year’s theme is ‘New Technologies for green shipping’ and is a cause very close to our values  in line with our work supporting the IMO’s 2050 GHG targets and the UNSDGs.

Action we’re taking includes incorporating 4 SDG’s into our operating model (already ISO9001 and 14001 certified) noting SDG 13, 14 and 9 are major themes of World Maritime Day.

SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

We use our influence as a regulator to support and nurture innovation.

SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production

Change our Flag State operating model through the use of new technology and our global network of representatives to reduce our carbon footprint and consumption of resources.

SDG 13 Climate Action

First and only flag to join the Getting to Zero Coalition and introducing new incentives (15 % Fee Reduction) for alternative fuel technologies including LNG/LPG dual fuel engines.

SDG 14 Life below Water

The Ship Registry joined Eyesea.org as a member and the Director as an ambassador to track marine pollution and marine hazards to influence effective clean-up operations.
